Alan Goettel

Carl Alan Goettel, 69, of Ekron, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at his residence. Born on Saturday, January 29, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Walter F. and Mildred Goettel, Carl's journey through life was marked by his gentle nature, selfless actions, and thoughtful demeanor.

Alan was a proud graduate of Meade County High School, class of 1973. Following his graduation, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. After his time in the military, Alan continued his service to the nation as a civil servant at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he retired following a distinguished career.

Throughout his life, Alan's passions were as diverse as they were deep. He had an enduring love for classical music and jazz, often spending his evenings enveloped in the rich harmonies and intricate melodies that resonated with his soul. An avid reader, Alan was seldom seen without a book in his hand, delving into worlds of fiction and non-fiction alike, always eager to learn more about the world around him.

Alan's love for the arts extended to the movies, where he found joy and inspiration in the stories told on screen. As a lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky basketball, he reveled in the camaraderie and spirit of collegiate sports. His collection of comic books was a testament to his appreciation of storytelling and the graphic arts, a hobby that he approached with the same enthusiasm and care as he did all his interests.

Above all, Alan cherished the time he spent with his family. He was a beacon of light in the lives of those he loved, always ready to offer a kind word, a listening ear, or a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter F. and Mildred Goettel, and an aunt, Jane Chapman Dooley. Alan's legacy of love and kindness is carried on by his brother, Scott Goettel, and Scott's wife, Debi, of Radcliff, Kentucky, along with his wonderful & loving stepmother, Donna Goettel, and a host of extended family members and friends.
