Barbara Lucille "Cille" (Brown) Whelan

Mrs. Barbara Lucille “Cille” Whelan, age 84, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at her residence. Cille was born on August 13, 1940, the daughter of James Herman and Anna Mae (Mills) Brown. Cille was very strong in her faith and was a dedicated member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. She would attend mass on a daily basis and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her little peeps on game day at church. Cille loved to travel, shop, eat, working in her flower beds and always adored spending time with her special girlfriends. Above all, Cille loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with them.

Cille was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Francis “Frank” Whelan; and five siblings. She is survived by her four daughters, Sheila Ford, Diana Whelan, Pam Adkisson and Barbara (John) Medley; five grandchildren, Brandon (Rachel) Medley, David (Ally) Medley, Cameron (Michaela) Adkisson, Whitney Whelan and Kayla (Michael) Fuchs; eight great grandchildren, Brody Medley, Wyatt Medley, Bentley Fuchs, Rylee Fuchs, Maya Wardrip, Mallory Wardrip, Beau Adkisson and Cash Medley; and two siblings, James L. “Bim” Brown and Maggie Whelan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. John’s Youth or to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
