Betty Jean Gonterman, age 89 of Payneville, KY passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
She was born on January 4, 1936 in Meade County, KY daughter of the late Della Mae Barley Brown and Talbert Brown. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Gonterman; sister, Mary Evelyn Poole; and brothers, Mitchel Brown, William “Jack” Brown, J.C. Brown, and H.C. Brown.
Betty Jean was not just a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and a friend; she was the matriarch of the family. She kept the family together and loved every minute of it. She loved to garden, read, and support her political party. She will be missed beyond measure, and loved without end.
She is survived by her children, Rickey Graff of Payneville, Brenda Armes of Vine Grove, Terry R. Gonterman of Payneville, and Kenneth E. Gonterman of Payneville; grandchildren, Brittany (Jonathan) Henderson, Ryan Armes, Joshua Puckett, Alex Gonterman, Tara Gonterman, Tanell Foushee, and Tory (Paul) Brown; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be held at the Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Monday, April 14, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at the Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Jeff Maysey officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central with her husband.
