Betty Sue (Thornsberry) Cox

WMMG

Mrs. Betty Sue (Thornsberry) Cox, age 69, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at her daughter’s residence. Betty was born on August 5, 1955, the

daughter of Buster and Ida Mae (McCoy) Thornsberry.

Betty worked in the field of Education as a Teaching Assistant. When she wasn’t in the classroom you could find her teaching a ceramics class in her shop, quilting, or just sewing in general. She was very talented in all that she did and was a true artisan in all the special things that she created.  Betty loved all holidays, but especially Christmas.  She always made everyone in her family’s favorite dessert, but especially enjoyed making her brownies, in which she just recently shared her secret recipe with her great nephew, so that he could carry on that family favorite.  Betty truly had a heart of gold for everyone she came in contact with.  Her children and grandchildren were the true apple of her eye, but she loved all.  In the simplest words expressed by her children, “Mom loved to love!”

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Carlos Michael “Mike” Cox; and two brothers, Larry (Jackie) Thornsberry and Marty (Nancy) Thornsberry. She is survived by two children, Jason Michael (Raschelle) Cox and Jennifer Nicole (Todd) Skaggs; four grandchildren, Blaine Matthews and Michaela Ann Cox, Elizabeth Danielle Goff and Katelyn Renee Skaggs; her sister, Bonnie (Walter) Phelps; four brothers, Danny (LeAnne) Thornsberry, Lanny (Judy) Thornsberry, Gary (Belinda) Thornsberry and Ronald Keith Thornsberry; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Tucker officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Susan G. Koman for a Cure Foundation.
