Bonnie Lou Culp (Ryan), 80, passed away on March 2, 2025. She passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her family and beloved pets. She was born on July 31, 1944, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, to Charles and Erma Ryan.
Bonnie dedicated much of her life to raising her four children as a devoted homemaker. In the mid-1980s, she began working as a store clerk at Power’s Five Star on U.S. 60, where she remained for over 20 years. She cherished her time there, forming lasting friendships with her customers and colleagues. Among them were her manager, Cheryl Whitworth, Roxie Peabler, and her boss, Martin Powers, whom she affectionately considered a bonus son. She truly enjoyed her time there and missed everyone greatly when she left to care for her mother.
Bonnie’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother to four children and a cherished Mamaw to 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She fiercely loved not only her immediate family but also many others whom she “adopted” along the way. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her loved ones, especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. Her devotion to family was unwavering and defined much of who she was.
Her love extended beyond people to animals of all kinds. She had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Eli, and her sweet cats, Molly and Megalodon. Bonnie’s compassion for animals was evident in the way she cared for them throughout her life.
A significant moment in Bonnie’s journey was when she officially accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior through baptism with Brother Ron Melton on May 8, 2024—a day that held deep meaning for her.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Culp; her parents, Charles and Erma Ryan; her grandparents, Tom and Duanah Stillwell; as well as several uncles, aunts, sister-in-law, and two nieces. She is survived by her brothers, Harold Ryan and David "Bumpy" Ryan; her four children, Terri Dugan, Barbara Sipes (Marvin), Joanna Lee Davidson (Dino), and David “Blue” Culp; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on March 8, 2025, at Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by the funeral at 4:00 PM. Bonnie will be laid to rest in "Mamaw's Garden" at 910 Bradleys Lane in Vine Grove, Kentucky.
In honor of Bonnie’s love for animals, those who wish may make donations in her memory to The Pets in Need Society of Brandenburg, The Meade County Animal Shelter, Forever Homes for Paws, or Broadbent Animal Sanctuary.
Bonnie touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering love for family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
