Carl Lavonne Weedman Sr., age 89, of Brandenburg, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Harrison County Hospital.
He was born January 9, 1935 to the late George Winifred Weedman and Daisy Belle Bennett in Payneville, KY. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Genelle Wright and a son, Malcolm Julius Weedman.
Carl was a proud veteran of the US Army. He owned and operated Weedman Lawn Service for many years and serviced small engines. He enjoyed gardening, was well known in the area for his cutlery work and worked for Jim Walker Homes for many years. Carl was a Kentucky Colonel and a longtime member of several organizations including the American Legion, 40/8, Brandenburg Moose Family Life Center and New Highland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons, Carl Lavonne Weedman Jr. of FL, George Mellville Weedman of Guston, KY, James Kevin Weedman of Pensacola, FL; a daughter Angela Marcella Chavers of Geneva, AL; 12 grandchildren, Laralei (Kevin) Howell, Erwinna Chavers, Cassiopeia (JD) Downs, Frank (Trista), Shane, Justin, James Jr. Jason, Jonathan, Christina, Jeffrey, and Julian Weedman; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
Visitation for Carl will be Tuesday, June 4 from 12:00 PM-5:00 PM at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg with funeral services to follow at 5:00 PM. Burial will follow in New Highland Baptist Church cemetery.
