Chase through Flaherty ends with two arrests on Sandridge

Anthony Stout and Tabitha Scrogham after being taken into custody by the Meade County Sheriff's Office

Typically, around 10 am on a Wednesday morning in Flaherty, the children are at school, most adults are at work and all is pretty quiet. That wasn't the case today, as a pickup truck roared through town with blue lights in close pursuit. The man behind the wheel of the fleeing vehicle was Anthony Stout, 51, of Muldraugh. According to Meade County Sheriff Phillip Wimpee, Stout was a wanted fugitive, and when his Detectives attempted to make a traffic stop on him this morning, Stout had other ideas in mind.

Stout fled north on Flaherty Rd before making an abrupt turn onto KY 1600. He then turned onto Sandridge Rd. just outside of town. Sheriff Wimpee said that Stout then drove around a mobile home park near Sandy Ln. multiple times in an attempt to lose the pursuing law Detectives. He then drove down Sandridge behind a radio tower, where he and fellow wanted fugitive Tabitha Scrogham, 38, of Brandenburg, attempted to flee from law enforcement on foot. The two fugitives did not avoid apprehension long before Detectives caught them and took them into custody. A search of their vehicle revealed a 9mm handgun, drugs, and drug paraphernalia. Animal control was also called to the scene because there were three dogs in the vehicle.

Stout was charged with fleeing or evading police, 1st degree (motor vehicle); fleeing or evading police, 2nd degree (on foot); wanton endangerment, 1st degree, police officer (3 counts); possession of a handgun by a convicted felon; possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine); possession of marijuana; possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (hallucinogenic); and drug paraphernalia, buy/possess. Scrogham was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon; possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine); possession of marijuana; possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (hallucinogenic); fleeing or evading police, 2nd degree (on foot); giving officer false identifying information; probation violation for a felony offense; non-payment of court costs, fees or fines; and failure to appear. Both suspects also had outstanding warrants for their arrest out of Meade County Court. They are both lodged in the Meade County Detention Center. The investigation will be sent to the County Attorney and Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
