Curtis Waymon Perks

Curtis Waymon Perks, age 72, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.

He was born on December 23, 1952, in Irvington, son of the late Charles Waymon Perks and Lula Mae Haynes Perks. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Young and Gloria Williams; and his brothers, Austin Perks, Randy Thomas, and David Perks.

Curtis, also known as the “Doctor of Bricks”, was passionate about his construction work. He enjoyed every aspect of laying bricks and blocks and was dedicated to his craft. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Irvington and adored his church family. He was a talented cook, and there was never a shortage of beans and homemade biscuits at his house. Above all else, Curtis was a family man. His favorite thing to do was spend time at home with everyone he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, Papaw, brother, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Belinda “Candy” Perks; children, Tracy and Racy Perks; stepchildren, Carolina Crandall, Tonya Clarkson, Charles Perks, Tyrone Perks, and Chad Dean; sisters, Beulah (Tim) Goins and Rosemary Nelson; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been chosen by the family and Alexander Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at a later date.
