Earl Wayne Lamkin

WMMG

Earl Wayne Lamkin, age 85, of Brandenburg, KY formerly of Payneville, KY, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.

Wayne was born on April 12, 1939, to the late William Ernest Lamkin and Grace Lee Lamkin. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret “Margie” Louise Pipes Lamkin and a special foster son, Marshall Dale Grimes. As well as four sisters, Dorothy Enlow, Earnestine Higbee, Louise Nellie Renfrow and Shirley Jean Lamkin and five brothers, George Edgar Lee Lamkin, Charles Franklin Lamkin, Robert Howard Lamkin, Andrew Baxter “Raymond” Lamkin, and William Earnest “Bill” Lamkin.

Wayne was a humble man who lived a life of elevating others above himself. He never had a job with a fancy title or a big salary, but he gave generously whenever he knew of a need. Wayne did not have a college education, but he made sure his children had the opportunity to go to college and to do so with no college debt. Wayne did not have any special musical abilities, but he made sure both kids had piano lessons. Wayne only had two children, Melissa and Corby, but he opened his home and shared his love, time, and his whole family with over 20 foster children. Wayne’s joy in life didn’t come from getting accolades, but from doing what he could to support others in achieving their dreams.

He is survived by his two children, Melissa Lamkin Givans of Brandenburg and Corbett “Corby” Lamkin of Louisville, KY; two granddaughters, Kasaundra “Kasi” Margaret Winkler and Lindsey Rae Givans of Brandenburg; and his sister Rita (Garland) Brown.
