Mrs. Elizabeth Townsley “Liz” Miller, age 75, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at her daughter’s residence. Liz was born on June 17, 1949, the daughter of Thomas Townsley and Christine (Docherty) O’Neil.
Liz had such a servant’s heart and was a faithful believer of Jesus Christ. She was formerly a cub scout leader, a member of the Lions Club, and Order of the Eastern Star. She also at one time ran the Christian Oriented Drug Action Program (CODAP) and was the first licensed female insurance agent in the state of Kentucky. She, along with her husband, also owned Miller’s Building Supply. Liz loved children. She was a devoted mom, not only to her own, but to many children throughout the years. Her door was always open to anyone wanting to walk through it. She loved to cook, crochet and sew. She always made her kids school clothes as they were growing up. Liz loved the beach and searching for seashells. She always had a joke to tell and always kept everyone entertained.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jimmy; her great grandson, Miles Basham; her father and mother-in-law, Wilbur and Eva Miller; and her best friend, Diedra Craig. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Carl Miller; three children, John (Jill) Miller, Becky (Russell) Waddle, and Tommy Miller; her daughter in-law, Lisa Miller; her grandkids, Jimi “PeePie” Miller, Chris (Ginger) Miller, Alyssa Decker, Teenie (Josh) Catron, John (Bethany) Miller, Carl Miller, Katie Miller, Justin Williams, Hannah Miller, Destiny Miller, Jacob Waddle, and Chris Waddle; 24 great grandchildren; her brother, Chris (Margie) O’Neil; her sister, Esther (Butch) Talley; and her bonus children, Bo Grammer, John Plemmons, Jennifer Knott, Mary Arterburn, and Jessica Pile.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Lasley officiating. Burial will follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 PM on Monday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
