Ernest Lee Fox, Sr, age 71, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the University of Louisville hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born on May 20, 1953, in Louisville, KY, son of Nancy Pearl Mosley and the late Ernest Fox.
Ernest, lovingly nicknamed “Ernie”, was one of a kind. He had a servant’s heart and a protective spirit with a passion for law enforcement. Throughout his career, Officer Fox exhibited daily dedication to the safety of the public and his fellow officers through his commitment and bravery in every circumstance. He served in multiple organizations, including the Louisville Metro Police Department and Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, worked as a K-9 Unit for the Mount Washington Police Department, Brandenburg Police Department, and Meade County Sheriff’s Office, and spent 5 years as the Police Chief of Irvington. He was a member of the Kentucky Wheels Motorcycle Club and liked riding his trike. He enjoyed deer hunting, farming, and loved tending to his cows, riding his tractor, and taking his four-wheeler around the farm. Above all else, Ernie was a family man and put them first in every aspect of his life. He was a constant rock to his loved ones and friends, and was always someone you could count on. He was a devoted husband, father, papaw, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who came to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Fox of Irvington, KY; children, Tina (Gary) Stevenson of Irvington, Ernie (Amber) Fox, Jr. of Memphis, IN, Rachel (Terry) Haynes of Upton, KY, and Aaron Miller of Sonora, KY; mother, Nancy Pearl Mosley; sisters, Connie (Ronnie) Vittitoe, Janet (Gary “Sweet Pea”) Fowler, and Wanda (Tony) Arnold; in-laws, Carl (Sue) Bell; nine beautiful grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; and a host of fellow officers and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home (509 Spring Street, Irvington, KY 40146) on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 2-8:00 P.M. EDT and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. EDT with Bro. David Buckham officiating. Burial will follow on his family farm.
