Glenn Harlan Essex, age 84, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri.
Glenn was born January 14, 1940, the oldest son of the late Virginia Judell Anderson, step-father Martin Randal Anderson, and father James Dillard Essex, who all preceded him in death.
Glenn loved the Lord, his family, his neighbors, helping others, and working in his garage. He served in the U.S. Airforce and was a retired pipefitter and plumber. He used his skills to help others any time possible, including volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He could fix or build most anything and was a great resource for advice and guidance for anyone who asked. He spent most mornings watching “Through the Bible with Les Feldick.” Glenn was a devoted Christian and a great mentor to his family and friends.
Glenn is survived by his three children Glenda Robertson of Benson, AZ, Kenneth (Vickie) Essex of Louisville, KY, and Michelle (Kevin) Stith of Shelbyville, KY; a loving partner and companion, Dana Duncan; two step-daughters, Beverly Pendleton of Louisville, KY and Joyce (Craig) Kemerling of LaGrange, KY; eight grandchildren: Ian (Alecia), Glenn (Lauren), Anna (David), Linnsey (Beau), Hayden (Amanda), Brian, Lisa, Eddie Scott, and Megan (Matt); ten great grandchildren, and a loving brother, Jerry Anderson (Diane) of Lebanon Junction, KY. He also will be dearly missed by his fur buddy and constant shadow, Scout.
Glenn is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes Essex; brothers, Randy Anderson and Dennis Anderson; step-children, Paul Lewis and Sandra Reid; sons-in-law, Hewitt Robertson and Rob Reid; and grandsons, James Sayre and Aaron Pike.
Glenn was the cherished patriarch of his family and will be missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to amazing neighbors, Eddie and Shelly LaTondress, for always being there.
