Hardin County man charged with murdering two men and setting house on fire with their bodies inside

According to the Elizabethtown Police Department, they responded to assist the Elizabethtown Fire Department with a structure fire at 508 Henon Lane. Upon EFD’s arrival and entry into the burning residence, two deceased males were found. It was determined that both individuals, 41 year old Blake France of Greenville, KY, and 43 year old Anthony Garrett of Elizabethtown had sustained gunshot wounds. The fire was also determined to have been intentionally set.

Witnesses reported seeing a gold pickup truck leaving the scene. Officers quickly located that vehicle at a local motel. Video surveillance from the location showed Dustin Caudill, 45, of Elizabethtown, exiting the vehicle and later discarding a handgun. Further investigation revealed personal belongings of the deceased victims inside Caudill’s motel room.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Caudill had also discharged his firearm at a third victim. During an interview, Caudill confessed to the offenses, specifically admitting to shooting the victims and intentionally setting fire to the residence. He further admitted to stealing wallets from the victims and discarding them in a gas station trash can.

Caudill was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:

-Arson, 1st Degree

-Tampering with Physical Evidence

-Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon

-Robbery, 1st Degree
