Mrs. Jenny Lee (Wemes) Hardesty, age 79, of Payneville, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 13, 1945, the daughter of William C. and Mary Laverne (Worth) Wemes.
Jenny was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. She worked at T.L.C. and Fox and Hound Daycares for many years, and was lovingly known as Miss Jenny to all of the children that she cared for, even long after they graduated and entered adulthood. Jenny was also an avid Louisville Cardinal Fan and loved to watch hummingbirds.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Diane Williams, Kathy (Donnie) Jones, and Carolyn (Connie) Lockard; one brother, Dale (Betty) Wemes; her granddaughter, Courtney Elizabeth Mattingly; and her step grandson, Eric Montgomery. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Randall; two daughters, Lori (Jeff) Mattingly and Becky (Amos) Claycomb; two sons, Bradley (Sheila) Hardesty, and Travis (Mater) Hardesty; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; five bonus great grandchildren; and two great grandchildren on the way; three sisters, Patty (Jimmy) Mattingly, Debbie (Rick) Smith, and Sherry (Larry) Hardesty; two brothers, Billy (Linda) Wemes, and Jimmy (Beth) Wemes; and a special nephew, Danny (Carol) Williams.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St. Theresa of Avila Church, with Rev. George Illakkal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 8, and at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of mass on Wednesday. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the chapel of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the WHAS Crusade for Children; or to St. Theresa Family Life Center.
