Loretta Bell Neff, age 90, died at her home on April 19, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Ray & Dorothy Bell on November 16, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 68 years, Fred J. Neff (d.2018). Also going before her were two brothers, Harold and Floyd Bell and sister-in-law Ann Bell.

Loretta and Fred were long-time members of the Irvington Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Through the years, Loretta often worked at the Neff General Store in Guston, where she made life-long friends and was greatly admired. In February, 1976, Loretta became the Activities Coordinator for Modern Woodmen of America Insurance. For almost 50 years she worked diligently to serve the community. Local fire departments, cities, schools and charities benefited from her commitment to serve the greater good and she greatly enjoyed the work and the social opportunities with her MWA friends.  In 2013 Loretta was honored with the Modern Woodmen's Fraternalist of the Year award for outstanding volunteer service in the community.

Loretta's joy was working alongside Fred on the farm they loved and cared for 50+ years. She also enjoyed growing a large vegetable garden and preserving food for her family and friends. Her gardens always included some roses and other flowers.

Her interest in genealogy led to her becoming a proud member of the Ambrose Meador Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Loretta's calling was to be a mother and caregiver. As her understanding of family expanded, so did her capacity to love and care for the people she cherished.  She was happiest serving a big meal to her family.

Left to mourn her passing are: Daughters: Janet Neff (Mike) Brewer, Rebecca Neff, and Linda Neff, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Siblings & their spouses: Ronnie & Ruby Bell, Mary Emma Bell, Larry & Connie Bell, Delois Bell, Bill & Elaine Bell. And many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 5-8:00 P.M. EDT. and after 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. EDT with Rev. Michael Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill cemetery.
