Meade County Water District (MCWD) and Hardin County Water District No. 1 (HCWD No.1) have agreed to an amendment of their wholesale agreement to add a second interconnect near Hwy 60 on the Ft. Knox installation near the city of Muldraugh. This interconnect will provide 100% redundancy for MCWD to ensure continuity of water supply and will allow it to be more resilient and will provide greater volumes and flow rates into the system as well. MCWD received a partial grant for the interconnect that will consist of a two million gallon per day pump station and a one-million-gallon ground storage tank. The project also includes over 30,000 feet of transmission main to get the water into the MCWD distribution system. This will ensure that Meade County has enough water to support future growth in the county.
