After a long and in some ways unusual campaign season, the 2024 general elections are over and the results are pouring in.
It would appear that former President Donald Trump is set to return to the White House. The Associated Press officially declared Trump the winner in the presidential race early Wednesday morning after he cleared the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. Trump also won the state of Kentucky and Meade County. In Meade County specifically, Trump received 10,630 votes in comparison to Kamala Harris' 3,279 votes.
Medical Cannabis
Meade County also voted YES to allow medical cannabis in the county. There were 9,707 YES votes and 4,144 NO votes.
Constitutional Amendments 1 & 2
On the constitutional amendments to the Kentucky State Constitution, Kentuckians voted yes on Amendment 1 to prevent non-citizens from voting in elections and NO on Amendment 2 which would have allowed state funding to be used for private schools. Meade County voted in line with the rest of the state on both amendments.

State Senate
For the 5th Senatorial District, incumbent Steven Meredith will continue to serve as the State Senator after defeating Democrat challenger Jamie Skudlarek. Meredith also carried Meade County specifically, with 10,445 votes to Skudlarek's 3,362 votes.
