Mr. Dorris Stidham, age 79, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oscaloosa, KY, on August 16, 1944, the son of the late Arthur and Altie Stidham.
Dorris spent a majority of his life serving in the U.S. Air Force where he retired as a decorated Vietnam veteran. He also worked many years as a Kentucky State employee working for the Department of the Blind. Dorris currently belonged to the Harrison Masonic Lodge #122 F.&A.M. where he served as a mason and enjoyed volunteering within his community. He was an avid UK Wildcats fan and enjoyed going fishing every chance he could. Most importantly, he loved gathering and spending time with his family that loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine siblings, Herbert Stidham, Eula Stidham, Alvin Stidham, Lula Fields, Shirley Kelley, Sue Thomas, Louie Whitaker, Evelyn Banks and Pearl Banks.
Dorris is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Stidham; their two sons, Steven (Lea Ann) Stidham, of Custer, KY, and Michael Stidham, of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Chasiti (Derek) Whitworth, of Harned, KY and Stevie Stidham, of Surfside Beach, SC; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Caine; two brothers, Bobby Stidham and Darrell Stidham, both of Charlestown, IN; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Kevin Mills officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 12:30 PM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic Funeral Rites will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, at the chapel of the funeral home. Along with flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
