Winter Storm To Impact Brandenburg, Surrounding Areas

WMMG

Just as we recover from heavy rainfall and flooding this past weekend, Kentuckiana is expected to be impacted by a winter storm moving into the area Tuesday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued and will go into effect at 7:00pm Eastern Time Tuesday night, February 18th, and stay in effect until Wednesday evening, February 19th, at 7:00pm Eastern Time for portions of South Central Indiana as well as East Central, North Central, Northwest, and South Central Kentucky.

According to the National Weather Service, Brandenburg can expect to see anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation, with other areas across Kentuckiana possibly receiving as much as 6 inches.

The National Weather Service warns that roads, bridges, and overpasses could become slick and hazardous, with the Wednesday morning commute being most impacted.

In addition to the snowfall, bitterly cold temperatures are expected throughout the week, with wind chills as low as 5 on Tuesday and a low temperature of 3 degrees for Thursday night. We won't likely see above-freezing temperatures until we reach the weekend, with a high temperature of 35 forecast for Saturday in Brandenburg.
